It's one of my favourites as well, they used to be pink, but this year they decided to wear a different colour can't explain why but I'm very pleased with it.

Kers Rose is Kerstroos in Dutch, so that's indeed almost the same
They probably changed colour so that you could continue with your blue theme. In actual fact it has something to do with the acidity or alkalinity of the soil.
I moved to South Africa from Zimbabwe and as a result I had to pick up some of the language. I have lived in England now for about 16 years so I have lost a lot of the Afrikaans that I knew through lack of practice.
